In recent years, we’ve witnessed the meteoric rise of women’s football. However, Manchester City’s Laia Aleixandri, with whom we recently collaborated, pointed out that it should simply be called ‘football.’ Gatorade hosted their annual 5v5 tournament in Bilbao, to coincide with the Women’s Champions League Final and continue their efforts to promote the women’s side of the beautiful game. They needed a video production agency that specialised in sports content production to tell their story. Clockwise sent a team of videographers and photographers to work alongside Fuse Sports Agency and Golin PR Agency to capture the action and brand activations surrounding the event. Working with talent We previously worked with Arsenal star Rachel Yankey on Gatorade’s 2023 Confidence Coach programme in Eindhoven. This year Rachel was joined by Man City’s Laia Aleixandri to carry on the mission to get more young girls into grassroots women’s football. Rachel and Laia coached the young players and gave some inspiring team talks, before the tournament began. We captured all the action as it unfolded, from event coverage and brand activations to PR and social content, for the press and stakeholder social channels. It’s not women’s football, just football! There was significant time pressure on the deliverables and we had to get content to the press within 48 hours of the tournament. There was a very short window for the story to be newsworthy before the hype of the men’s Champions League Final began a few days later. We had two editors working from a remote office in Bilbao, in order to turn around the event highlights and Confidence Coach films for the agency and press. The content was delivered seamlessly and went out to the world in time for major news outlets such as The Mirror to pick up on the important message. Bilbao is a hotbed for Women’s football and Gatorade’s 5V5 tournament offer’s a real opportunity for young female talent to be recognised. Sim Higginson – Director It was a pleasure to continue our content production partnership with Fuse, Golin, and Gatorade, and contribute to giving young women the confidence to pursue their passion on the pitch.
