As part of the L’OrĂ©al Colour Trophy 2024, we had the pleasure of working with stylist Robert Eaton. From the initial production meetings, we learnt there was going to be a heavy focus on video editing to accompany the live stage show. Our post-production specialist Emma explains below the best parts of the project from ideation to final delivery. What part of the video editing did you enjoy the most? I loved getting creative in the video editing and bringing Rob Eaton’s vision to life. It’s unusual to get the chance to work across five different techniques and styles in one piece so it was very nice to come into work each day and work on something completely different. If I had to choose, it would be getting to use Animate to draw over the footage. It was exciting to learn new software and finally use my GCSE Art skills! What advice would you give someone editing under Time pressure? If I were to give advice to someone under time pressure, I would make sure to take the time to go through your footage. Pick out all your best shots, lay them on a timeline and then work from that, rather than having to sift through all the camera folders. If you run out then you can go back into the folders knowing exactly what you’re looking for to fill the gaps in your timeline.
