A New Kind of Show Visual

At this year’s L’Oréal Colour Trophy Grand Final, we helped bring the stage to life with something a little different: 25+ minutes of AI-generated visuals, built specifically for the event’s 8000-pixel LED screen backdrop.

Meet Bev — An AI Character Born from Real Performance

To guide the audience through one of the shows, we created “Bev,” an AI-generated character voiced and performed by our team. We filmed a performance from intern Megan and used Runway to map Bev’s AI face onto it. The result was uncanny and emotionally resonant.

A Toolkit of AI, Powered by People

Our team, led by Chris Light, used a range of tools across the project:

Gemini: to translate notes into creative prompts

Kling 2.0: for visually consistent video generation

RunwayML: for face mapping, inpainting, and animation

Photoshop: for character design and content-aware fill

Tensor Pix: for final upscaling to 8000px resolution

Despite the tech, this was a 50/50 process: human-led storytelling, AI-driven visuals.

Why AI Makes Sense for Live Events

Event visuals don’t need photorealism—they need mood, pace, and energy. AI helped us deliver bespoke animation quickly and affordably, without sacrificing creativity. It didn’t replace a shoot. It allowed one to happen that otherwise wouldn’t have.

“It was a tough year, but we got there. Fantastic work and the end result was epic!”

Gareth, Creative Director, L’Oréal Colour Trophy

Looking Ahead

With AI tools evolving by the week, we’ve now refined a workflow that’s flexible, efficient, and creatively powerful. If you’re planning a show or event and want to bring something cinematic to the screen, we’d love to talk.
